AiLab is open both to researchers who would like to work with us and to students who want to gain research experience in artificial intelligence, data science, and other areas of computer science. Our students take part in data collection, dataset creation, model development, and the preparation of publications in our projects. This page explains how to collaborate with us and how to become part of the laboratory.
We carry out collaborative projects and co-author publications with researchers from different institutions and disciplines. We welcome collaboration with researchers who want to address a research problem in their own field using artificial intelligence and data science methods, as well as with those working on new methods in these areas, whether by preparing project proposals together, working side by side on ongoing studies, or co-authoring publications.
You can find the researchers we work with on our Team page, and information on how our infrastructure is used in collaborative work in the Collaborative Research section of our Infrastructure page. For collaboration proposals, you can contact the head of the laboratory at ulas@sakarya.edu.tr.
Undergraduate, MSc, and PhD students enrolled at a university in Türkiye can work as scholars in projects funded by TÜBİTAK, ADEP, and other programs in which our laboratory takes part. Open scholarship positions are posted in our announcements together with the project, the position, and the requirements.
Undergraduate students at universities in Türkiye can prepare project proposals under the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program and the 2209-B Industry Oriented Research Project Support Programme for Undergraduate Students, with the head of the laboratory or another faculty member of our team as their academic advisor. 2209-B projects also involve an industry advisor. Sharing your project idea with us before the call opens leaves time to develop the proposal together. Student projects carried out under our supervision are listed on our Projects page.
Under the TÜBİTAK 2247-C Intern Researcher Scholarship Program (STAR), undergraduate students who are Turkish citizens or Blue Card holders can work as intern researchers in funded projects in which our laboratory takes part. STAR scholars have worked in our laboratory before. Applications are made according to the schedule and conditions set by TÜBİTAK in each STAR call.
MSc and PhD students can carry out their thesis research in our laboratory under the supervision of the head of the laboratory or other faculty members of our team. Thesis topics can be drawn from our ongoing projects or developed as new research topics based on the student's interests. International students who wish to pursue a graduate degree with us need to be admitted to a graduate program at Sakarya University through the university's regular admission process.
We primarily consider applications from students in computer science and information technology related departments. When a position opens in one of our interdisciplinary projects, students from departments related to the subject of the project, such as environmental, materials, or sport sciences, are also considered.
Our Projects, Publications, and Infrastructure pages give an idea of our work, but the topics you can work on with us are not limited to these. You can also apply with a proposal for a new research topic, from theoretical work on developing methods and algorithms to IoT and autonomous systems or research problems in other disciplines.
Students who would like to work with us can send the following documents to ulas@sakarya.edu.tr:
If you have experience in programming, data analysis, or artificial intelligence, mentioning it along with your projects will help us evaluate your application. Please write “AiLab Application” in the subject line of your email.
