The “shovel for separating and sampling macro-, meso-, and microplastics and other litter in beach sand,” invented by Prof. Dr. Meral YURTSEVER and our head of laboratory Assist. Prof. Dr. Ulaş YURTSEVER, was registered as a utility model by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) on July 21, 2025, under number 2023/014774.
The shovel was developed to separate macro-, meso-, and micro-sized plastics and other litter from beach sand and to sample them during coastal fieldwork.
